Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 8, 2026

The short version: MXHelper is a free diagnostic tool. We don't have user accounts, we don't store the domain names you check, and we don't sell anyone's data. We do use Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns and Google AdSense to show ads — both set cookies. You can manage cookie consent through the banner that appears on first visit.

What data we collect

Domains you check. When you enter a domain name into the checker, we perform DNS lookups against that domain. We don't save your queries in any database. Domain names may appear in standard web server access logs (this is true of every website on the internet) and are deleted after 30 days.

Technical request data. Like all websites, our server automatically receives basic technical information with each visit: your IP address, the page you requested, your browser type and version, the referring URL, and the time of the request. We use this for diagnostics, security, and aggregate traffic analysis only.

Cookies and similar technologies. Three categories:

  • Essential cookies — used to remember your cookie consent choices and other site preferences. Always active.
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Active only with your consent.
  • Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense to display ads and measure their performance. Active only with your consent.

You can change your consent choices at any time via the "Manage cookies" link in the footer.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland: analytics and advertising cookies are not activated until you give explicit consent through the banner. Google Consent Mode v2 is used to enforce these defaults — Google's ad and analytics services receive a "denied" signal until you choose otherwise. This complies with Google's EU User Consent Policy.

Third parties

The following third parties may process your data when you visit MXHelper:

  • Google Analytics — aggregate traffic analytics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdSense — displays advertisements. Subject to the same Google policy.
  • CookieYes — consent management platform that displays the cookie banner and stores your consent choices. See CookieYes's Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare — provides DNS, CDN, and DDoS protection for the site. May log IP addresses for security purposes. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

We don't sell or share your personal information with anyone beyond what's described above.

International data transfers

MXHelper is operated from Canada. Some of the third parties listed above — including Google (Analytics, AdSense), CookieYes, and Cloudflare — process data on servers located in the United States and other countries. By using MXHelper, you understand that your data may be processed outside your country of residence, including in jurisdictions whose data protection rules may differ from your own. Where required by law, we rely on standard contractual clauses and adequacy decisions to protect that data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing
  • Withdraw consent for analytics and advertising cookies at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

These rights are guaranteed under regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Economic Area, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and similar laws elsewhere.

Because MXHelper has no user accounts, most personal data is limited to short-lived server logs and cookies set by third parties. To exercise your rights regarding cookies set by Google, you can also use Google's own controls at myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy.

Legal basis for processing (EEA / UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — for analytics and advertising cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time through the "Manage cookies" link in the footer.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — for short-term server logs used to keep the site secure and diagnose problems. Our legitimate interest is operating a stable, free tool; we balance this against your privacy by retaining logs for only 30 days.

Data retention

Web server access logs are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted. We don't keep any other records of visits or diagnostic queries.

Children

MXHelper is a technical tool intended for adults managing domains and email infrastructure. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA).

Updates to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. For material changes, we'll add a notice on the home page.
